BJP announces candidates for Goa Assembly polls

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party has declared its list of 32 candidates for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections. It has also announced that former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal will be its candidate for the Hamirpur Lok Sabha by-election.

In Karnataka the party symbol is to be allotted to Chandrashekhar Uchil for the Ullala assembly by-election.

Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will contest the prestigious Panaji Assembly seat.

Party leaders are certain that he will once again be projected as the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate.

The list was finalised at the party's central election committee meeting here chaired by party president Rajnath Singh and attended by both senior leaders, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L. K. Advani.

Here is the list of candidates: Lakshmikant Parsekar (Mandrem); Dayanand Sopte (Pernem); Vithu Morajkar (Dargalim); Sadanand Mhalu Tanawde (Tivim); Francisco Pedro D'Souza (Mapusa); Dayanad Mandrekar (Siolim); Anjali Malik (Calangute); Dilip Parulekar (Saliago); Kunda Chodankar (Aldona); Agnelo Silveira (Taleigo); Anil Hoble (Santa Cruz); Antonio Caiado (St. Andre); Rajesh Patnekar (Bicholim); Anant Vishnu Shet (Maem); Suresh Amonkar (Pale); Vasudev Parab (Poreim); Puti Gaonkar (Valpoi); Sandeep Khandeparkar (Ponda); Vishwas Satarkar (Priol); Sadanand Naik (Marcaim); Mahadev Naik (Siroda); Milind Naik (Mormugao); Rajendra Arlekar (Vasco Da Gama); Damodar Naik (Fatorda); Sharmad Raiturkar (Margao); Vinay Tendulkar (Sanvordem); Vasudev Gaonkar (Sanguem); Ramarao Desai (Curchorem); Prakash Velip (Quepem); Vijay Pai Khot (Canacona); and Ramesh Tawadkar (Poinguinim).
