ANU results get the mobiles buzzing

Staff Reporter

Girls fare better than boys

GUNTUR: It was a day when the mobiles went ringing and the Internet cafes in Guntur were found swarming with students. The degree results of the Acharya Nagarjuna University were released on Wednesday afternoon on the University premises and simultaneously, the results were made available on the mobile phones and uploaded on the URL links, www.acharyanagarjunauniversity.ac.in, www.resultsonmobile.com and www.manabadi.com.

Unique record

The University authorities have released the results of all the six courses, B.A. B.Com. B.Sc, B.A (Oriental Languages), B.C.A. "We have set a unique record by being the first in the State to release the results of all the three years and of all the six courses simultaneously," said University controller of Examinations Abdul Noor Basha.

Of the 1.22 lakh final year students who appeared in the examinations, 50,000 passed out with a pass percentage of 38.5 per cent as against the pass percentage recorded in 2006 at 42 per cent. Girls fared better than boys with a pass percentage of 48 per cent.

Popular option

There was a massive response to the SMS service. Students just typed results and messaged it to 99499-33333. "We recorded 50,000 messages in the first hour itself," said Mr. Basha.

The last date for submitting application seeking revaluation of marks list or personal verification is May 21.

The application forms are available at the office of the Controller of Examinations. Students could also submit the downloaded marks list along the marks list. The fees structure is same as last year.
