THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet has cleared a major wind energy project to be taken up at Ramackalmedu with private participation. The Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Development (Anert) will be the nodal agency for the project. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told presspersons after a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday that the Kerala Kalamandalam would be upgraded as a deemed university.
Memorandum approved
The Cabinet had approved the memorandum of association for the university. An official committee headed by the Chief Secretary would be set up for carrying out the Vidharbha model agriculture package in Wayanad, Kasaragod and Palakkad districts.
Review committee
Members of the Assembly and Parliament from the districts and panchayat presidents would be members of the committee. The project would be continuously reviewed. Ministers P.K. Sreemathy, A.K. Balan and Benoy Viswom will oversee the implementation in Kasaragod, Palakkad and Wayanad districts respectively.
