KOLLAM: P.K. Gurudasan, Labour Minister and Kollam MLA, has called for the exploitation of the district's industrial potential. He was addressing a meeting after laying the foundation stones for an Industrial Training Institute and the storeroom for the District Ayuveda Hospital at a function here on Wednesday. The Minister said small-scale industries should be started in accordance with the district's potential. He pointed out that a good number of livestock was being brought daily to the district from Tamil Nadu mainly to be slaughtered. This could be exploited for starting meat processing and leather units which had tremendous scope. The Minister also said the eastern sectors of the district registered an appreciable fruit production. This supply could be a potential for fruit-processing units. District panchayat president K. Devaki presided.
