Residents in illegal layouts to get notices

Staff Correspondent

HUBLI: Chairman of the Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority Lingaraj Patil has ordered for issuing show cause notices to residents of two "illegal" layouts in Hubli on Wednesday.

Visit

The action follows the visit of the HDUDA chairman along with the officials to Sagar Colony and Mrutyunjay Nagar situated adjacent to J.K. English Medium School in Hubli.

Mr. Patil found to his surprise that big buildings had come up on agricultural land and permission had not been taken for the construction from any of the government agencies concerned. Mr. Patil told The Hindu that he had ordered his officials to serve show cause notices to the building owners individually.

Later, he held a meeting with Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar. Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner P. Manivanna, HDUDA Commissioner Beeragoudar and others participated. The meeting discussed at length on the way of curbing the menace of illegal layouts in the twin cities.
