Bommuru (East Godavari): Chairman and Managing Director of Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (EPDCL) Praveen Prakash has said that power will be supplied for seven hours to the agriculture sector during kharif. This will become possible as power is being purchased to ensure there are no breakdowns. On the whole, the State will be buying 100 MW of power for kharif. After inspecting Bommuru sub-station on Wednesday, he said that the EPDCL required 2.5 million units per day. Some Rs.150 crores would be spent to purchase power, he said, adding that the government would spend Rs. 750 crores to overcome shortage in the next 12 months.
CFL bulbs
Mr. Praveen Prakash said that they introduced CFL bulbs to cut consumption. The cost of the bulb would be compensated by the company. He asked officials to take up maintenance of transformers in big way in the district and take stringent action against defaulters. Senior Engineer Subba Rao, SE Syamala Rao and others participated.
