BELLARY: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will tour Sandur taluk in Bellary district on Thursday. Sandur is getting ready to receive Mr. Kumaraswamy, who will be the first Chief Minister to visit the town after M. Veerappa Moily some 15 years ago. Government offices have been white washed and main roads and open drains cleaned in view of the Chief Minister's visit. A temporary helipad has been readied at Bommaghatta, a well-known pilgrim centre where Anjaneya is the main deity, for the Chief Minister to land. The Chief Minister will participate in the mass marriage organised annually by the V.S. Lad family, led by the Lad brothers Anil and Santosh, who represent Kudligi and Sandur respectively in the Assembly. Later, Mr. Kumaraswamy is expected to participate in functions to lay foundation stones for several development works. The works include upgrading the community health centre into a 100-bed hospital. He will also formally launch work on the bypass road and lay foundation stones for a high school and college to be started in the town. The Chief Minister is also expected to lay the foundation stone for a drinking water project in the town.
