Turmeric ryots to stage stir in Delhi
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The State unit of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch is organising a dharna by State turmeric farmers in New Delhi on May 14 to press their demand for a minimum support price of Rs.4,000 a quintal.
K. Narsimham Naidu, co-convener, in a press release stated on Tuesday that turmeric farmers were suffering huge losses, due to lack of MSP. He urged the Government to set up a turmeric board and a research centre to roll out new varieties of seeds for better yield.
He accused the Government of not heeding to the farmers' agitations organised in the past two months.
