NIZAMABAD: District Collector I.S. Sri Naresh has said steps are being taken to shift paddy purchased by Self Help Group women at their purchasing centre at Andhra Nagar of Nandipet mandal. The district civil supplies authorities have been asked to arrange trucks and tractors to shift the grain to rice mills at Khanapur and Nandipet. Out of 1,582 quintals of grain purchased at Andhra Nagar, 600 quintals was already transported, he said after inspecting the centre on Wednesday. Expressing satisfaction over the grain purchase by the thrift groups at various centres in the district, he said this activity could ensure remunerative price to the farming community and a little profit margin to the SHGs. Thus, the SHG women could show their mettle even in the business, he observed. When the tomato farmers apprised him of their woes due to lack of profitable price to their produce at vegetable market, the Collector assured them that he would take steps to ask the Reliance Retailers to purchase tomatoes at reasonable price. He said if people came forward to plant saplings to improve greenery at villages the Government would supply them free of cost.
