20,000 teaching posts to be filled soon: Minister

    Sangareddy: Minister for School Education C. Damodar Rajnarsimha said 20,000 teaching posts will be filled before the commencement of classes this academic year.

    Addressing the press here on Wednesday, he said efforts are on to prepare ground for posting DSC 2006 candidates by filing a special leave petition in the Supreme Court on the Unified Service Rules issue. The Principal Secretary of School Education and the Director will soon be leaving for New Delhi this weekend, he said.

    The Minister said teaching in English medium from sixth class will begin in one selected high school in each constituency in the State.

    He said the Government is keen on knowing from students, parents and teachers how they perceive the pilot project.

    He directed Medak District Education Officer Lakshma Reddy to prepare a wish list for proper implementation of the project and submit a report. The Minister said necessary training and infrastructure for the introduction of English medium will be provided in select schools.

    Moral science syllabus

    Stressing the need for inculcating moral values in schoolchildren, the Minister said from this year one question on moral science will be made compulsory during the SSC examination and two more chapters will be added to the moral science syllabus.

    Earlier, the Minister reviewed status of school education in the district along with District Collector B. Venkatesam.

    The Minister directed the District Education Officers to speed up completion of infrastructure in all the schools on a priority basis.

    Medak Zilla Parishad Chairman M. Balaiah and Member of Legislative Council V. Bhupal Reddy was also present at the review meeting.
