CHENNAI : Monbukagakusho, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, will offer scholarships to foreign students who wish to study in Japanese universities and colleges. The scholarships would be offered for three, four and five years depending on duration of the course. Subjects offered in the Professional Training College, with three-year scholarships, are civil engineering, architecture, electronics, telecommunications, nutrition, infant education, secretarial studies, hotel management, tourism, photography, fashion and dress-making. The College of Technology would offer courses in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, information communication, networking engineering, materials engineering, architecture, civil engineering, maritime engineering, with scholarships. Undergraduate courses (with five-year scholarships) in social sciences, humanities and natural sciences would be offered. Eligibility criteria include completion of Plus-Two examinations and willingness to learn Japanese, as the medium of instruction would be Japanese. A written examination would be conducted in July 2007 followed by an interview for short-listed candidates.
