CHENNAI: West Bengal Left Front Chairman Biman Bose on Wednesday said Leader of the Opposition Mamata Banerjee agreed to participate in an all-party meeting to be held in East Midnapore shortly to discuss steps to restore normality at Nandigram. The village witnessed violence in the wake of protests against alleged acquisition of farmland for setting up a special economic zone. "I have just received a fax message stating that the Opposition leader has agreed [to attend]." It was a good and positive development, Mr. Bose said, addressing a seminar on the "Question of Development and the Role of the Left-led Governments" held in connection with the eighth all-India conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) here. Kerala Law and Sports Minister M. Vijay Kumar asked the DYFI to form legal cells under the supervision of experts to help the poor and the downtrodden. A seminar to commemorate the DYFI silver jubilee was held at the conference venue.
