HYDERABAD: Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao on Wednesday said that the Growth Corridor regulations were only draft proposals notified to seek public opinion and a final decision would be taken only after considering all views and suggestions. A public hearing would be held next week on the draft Growth Corridor regulations. Mr. Rao who reviewed the HUDA projects, particularly opposition to the Growth Corridor special regulations related to one km area on either side of the Outer Ring Road, here said that the Andhra Pradesh Government would not take any decision that would hamper the interests of the poor and the farmers. Principal Secretary S. P. Singh said about 400 written objections and suggestions were received from the public on the Growth Corridor regulations and the proposed public hearing would give an opportunity to all sections of people to express their opinion. In about 45 days, a final decision on Growth Corridor regulations would be taken. The Outer Ring Road was an international class facility and it opened new vistas for development, he said.
`Ad campaign'
HUDA Chairman D. Sudheer Reddy said misrepresentation of facts about the regulations in the media was making people agitated. "We are coming out with an advertising campaign to clear the misconceptions." Though the regulations suggest constructions to come up only in 1,200 sq.m area, the proposal would not affect the existing approved layouts and constructions would be allowed in plots of 150 sq. yards and more. The rule would also not be applicable to areas under gram kantam (panchayat jurisdiction).
`Vaastu sentiment'
Similarly rules would not interfere with `Vaastu sentiment' but access from residential or commercial complexes would not be given directly onto the main road to prevent ribbon development. Earlier, the Minister also reviewed ongoing HUDA projects like ORR, Elevated Expressway, Musi, Hussainsagar clean up and directed the officials to speed up the work. HUDA Vice-Chairman Jayesh Ranjan, ORR Project Director Piyush Kumar and other senior officials were present.
