HYDERABAD: A delegation of BJP leaders from Andhra Pradesh led by State president Bandaru Dattatreya will meet President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Thursday and seek his intervention to impress upon the Centre to bring a bill for formation of Telangana in the current session of Parliament. Stating this to reporters here on Wednesday, party leaders Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and K. Laxman said senior leaders V.K. Malhotra, Sushma Swaraj and Prakash Javdekar would also accompany the delegation. This would be the first time that a BJP team would be meeting the President after the party's National Executive passed a resolution supporting statehood for Telangana. Reiterating the party's demand for creating Telangana before 2009 Assembly elections, they said that another huge delegation of party functionaries up to sarpanch-level would meet Dr.Kalam at a later date.
Polavaram project
Referring to Polavaram project, they accused the Government of going ahead without approvals from the President, Governor and Tribal Advisory Council . They said the BJP was not against the project but wanted the height to be reduced.
