Water supply hit

Thiruvananthapuram: Drinking water supply to Thirumala, Poojappura, Karamana, Kalady and adjoining areas in the city was disrupted from 3 p.m. on Wednesday following the rupture of a distribution pipeline near the Poojappura junction. Officials of the Kerala Water Authority said it would take several hours to restore water supply to the affected areas.

LDF policies flayed

Thiruvananthapuram: The District Congress Committee (DCC) will organise a campaign to highlight the anti-people policies pursued by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government, DCC president V.S. Sivakumar announced here on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Sivakumar said the year-long rule of the LDF Government was marked by failure on all fronts. "The party will take out a district-wide Janapaksha Yatra from May 18 to 22 to focus public attention on the LDF's misrule," he added. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the rally at the Gandhi Park here on May 18. — Special Correspondent

Social commitment needed: VS

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said Government employees need to have social commitment. Mr. Achuthanandan was inaugurating the 34th annual conference of the Kerala Secretariat Employees here on Wednesday. The staff should implement the decisions taken by the Government for the welfare of the people.
