Kalpavriksha awards

KOCHI: The organisers of the ongoing International Coconut Summit have announced Kalpavriksha awards to experts in coconut sector.

The awardees are: P. Rethinam (development and research), Severino S. Magat (integrated farming), C. Mohan (farm forestry), P.M.K. Rajendran (value addition), Joseph Alappat (model farmer) and R. Heli (journalist).

Former Minister of State O. Rajagopal will give away the awards at the valedictory function of the Coconut Summit on Friday.

The awards were announced at a press conference by K.I. Vasu, chairman of the organising committee, and P.K. Thampan, co-chairman.

Among the awardees, P. Rethinam is the former Executive Director of Asian Pacific Coconut Community, and Severino S. Magat is a scientist of the Philippine Coconut Authority.
