Pratibha's friend too received calls on her mobile phone

Staff Reporter

Archana was told that the regular cab would not pick her up

BANGALORE: A former colleague of call centre employee Pratibha, who was murdered on December 13, 2005, told the court conducting trial on the murder that she too had received calls on her mobile phone from a person informing her that the regular cab would not come to pick her up. The caller had asked her to take another cab arranged for pick-up, she said.

Deposing before the VII Fast Track Court Judge K. Sukanya, Archana said that on the night of December 12, 2005, she got calls from three landline numbers. The last call came at 1.10 a.m. on December 13 and by that time she had boarded the regular cab, which had come, she told the court. Ms. Archana said she was on leave on December 14 and she came to know about the incident only on December 15.

Archana, who was earlier working at Hewlett Packard, has joined another company, she told the court.

Basavaraju, supervisor of cabs at the travel agency, told the court that he was asked to call only men who did not board their regular cabs on a particular day. He was specifically told not to call women employees.

He noticed that Partibha did not go to the office even after the regular cab arrived and he brought this to the notice of superiors.

He heard Pratibha's colleagues discussing her absence the next day, Mr. Basavaraju said.
