COLOURS OF INDIA: Adi Magen with a painting of hers
NEW DELHI: Through a painting exhibition, Israeli artist Adi Magen has brought to life her varied experiences while criss-crossing the country. Titled "My Journey to India", the exhibition is now on at the Academy of Fine Arts and Literature in the Siri Fort Institutional Area here. During the past four years Adi has captured on canvas images of colourful Indian people through a foreigner's eye. The current exhibition showcases some of her best works. Passionate about picturesque Rajasthan, Adi feels that her intimate encounter with the land of colours and rich culture has added a new dimension to her perception and works. She says the strong colours that she uses in her paintings express the strong affection that she holds for India. Adi has studied commercial art (illustration and fashion design) for three years in Israel in the early 1990s. The artist plans to continue to use Indian people as her subject after she goes back to Israel this year. "I will continue painting Indian people unless something else affects me as strongly as the Indian culture did," she adds.
