Pallav's spell in vain

HYDERABAD : A good spell by Pallav (seven for 14) for Apollo Hospitals went in vain as it suffered a 24-run defeat against Techpoint in the third Champions Trophy corporate cricket tournament here on Thursday.

The scores: Techpoint 78 (Pallav seven for 14) bt Apollo Hospitals 54 (Praveen five for 12).

Karvy 124 for seven (David 41) bt HDFC Standard Life 33 for eight.

Virtusa 186 for eight (Murali 49) bt Motorola 34.

Karvy 190 for nine (Sanjeev 48) bt Godfrey Phillips 102 (Raju four for 19).

Chess tournament

Andhra Pradesh Chess Association will organise the 13th Brilliant Trophy State open chess championship at Brilliant Grammar School (Dilsukhnagar) from May 12 to 13.

Harika blans Pavani

At Guntur, top seed M.S Harika (Vizag) blanked Pavani (Krishna) 25-0, 25-0 in the sub-junior girls' section, while Ch. Akhil (Vizag) outplayed Krishna's L.V.S. Siva Kumar 25-7, 25-0 in the cadet boys' section in the AP sub junior inter-district carrom championship held at the LVR & Sons Club here on Thursday.

Earlier, Guntur District Olympic Association Secretary P. Subba Rao inaugurated the three-day tournament.

Santosh to lead

Santosh Yadav will lead Hyderabad XI in the 25th all-India Uttaranchal Gold Cup cricket tournament to be held at Dehradun from May 20.
