KURNOOL: Left parties will soon launch a struggle for land in a big way in the State. They will occupy Government and other controversial lands across the State in May and June. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, CPI State Committee member K. Ramakrishna said the Government claimed that it was distributing 10 lakh acres to the poor, but in the last three years, it had only regularised staying of poor farmers on Government land and no fresh land was assigned to anybody. He said the Left parties were opposed to amendment to the 9/77 Act saying that the land recovered from illegal occupants should be restored only to assignees. But the amendment would allow the Government to transfer it to any other person or regularise the stay of the present occupant.
Jana's remark flayed
Mr. Ramakrishna found fault with the Home Minister who likened the Left parties to Naxals saying that Mr. Jana Reddy had failed to notice the difference between an armed struggle and democratic movement. Mr. Reddy should control land mafia in the State if he had any respect for rule of law and concern for the poor. Mr. Ramakrishna advised the Home Minister to change his opinion on the Left parties.
