Boy rescued in Bihar

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A five-year-old boy allegedly abducted from Shastri Nagar here last month has been rescued by the North Delhi police from the clutches of his uncle and his accomplice at Jamui in Bihar. Both the accused have been arrested. Virender Kumar on April 24 lodged a complaint with the Sarai Rohilla police alleging that his son Ashish had gone missing. The next day the case was converted to that of kidnapping after the police failed to trace him.

Enquiries revealed that Ashish was last seen with his 56-year-old uncle Madan Gopal, who had also gone missing.

Meanwhile, Virender received a ransom call on May 4, in which the caller demanded Rs. 20 lakh to release Ashish. The police traced the call to Jamui. Investigations indicated the involvement of a labourer Deepak. whom Virender had recently thrown out of the job. The police mounted a raid at Deepak's Jamui residence and rescued Ashish. Deepak and Madan were arrested from there.
