NEW DELHI: Northern Railway has stepped up its drive against touts and unauthorised agents functioning at railway stations and reservation centres. In its latest drive, Northern Railway has arrested 12 touts and agents from various stations and booking counters. The drive was carried out at booking counters in New Delhi, Shahdara, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Sarojini Nagar and Palam in the Capital. Northern Railway sleuths also arrested touts from the Ludhiana, Lucknow, Bareilly, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon passenger reservation centres. They were handed over to the Railway Protection Force, said an official release. Northern Railway has formed special teams to keep an eye on scrupulous activities of touts and agents at reservations centres and railway stations. Vigilance teams along with the Anti-Fraud Squad and RPF personnel are continuing with their raids at booking counters, reservation centres and railway stations to check tout menace. The Northern Railway authorities have appealed to the passengers to buy tickets from railway counters or authorised railway travels service agents only. They have warned that passengers found travelling on transferred tickets (tickets purchased in the name of other persons) will be prosecuted.
