HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy has urged the Stanford University to locate its offshore campus in Hyderabad and assured to provide all necessary infrastructure for it. Speaking at the signing of an MoU between the university, State Government and Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) during his visit to California, he said that the State's economy was fast-growing and Hyderabad was fast developing on many fronts, including infrastructure, IT, BT, pharmaceuticals and textiles. Chairman Board of Trustees, Stanford University Burt McMurtry agreed in principle to set up an institute in the State and assured to provide affordable healthcare to the people, according to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office here on Thursday. The MoU was exchanged by Dr. Reddy and Mr. Burt in the presence of B. Ramalinga Raju, Chairman Satyam Computer Services Inc. As per the agreement, EMRI and Stanford University Medical Centre would prepare professionals in emergency care in the country. They will offer a two-year post-graduate programme which emphasises on practicality combined with communication skills, making for a practical Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced (EMT-A). Hyderabad-based EMRI runs the popular `108' service.
