Congress condemns attack on Dinakaran

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Krishnasswamy on Thursday condemned the attack on Dinakaran and condoled the death of three employees of the Tamil daily.

In a statement, Mr. Krishnasswamy said none could tolerate the attack on the press, the "fourth pillar" of democracy. He wanted the Government to take stringent action against those involved in the violence, however highly placed they might be.

Vaiko charge

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko alleged that goondas belonging to the ruling party were behind the murderous attack on Dinakaran. Condemning the incidents, Mr. Vaiko charged that the survey was done with the connivance of the Chief Minister. It was unfortunate that Mr. Karunanidhi failed to stop the publication of the survey when he knew about it in advance.
