HYDERABAD: The APSRTC Employees Union (EU) on Thursday called off its proposed strike from midnight of May 11 following an understanding with the management. Corporation Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy said the union's major demand of regularisation of casual/contract labour would be solved soon. As for the other demands, the management on Wednesday agreed to release Rs. 12 crore towards different allowances to over 1.12 lakh regular employees and an instalment of dearness allowance with May salary, apart from ordering payment of bonus/ex-gratia to eligible employees on May 12, subject to a maximum of Rs. 2,500.
Union leaders closeted with Mr. Dinesh Reddy, at the end of which an understanding was reached. K. Padmakar, general secretary, said the strike was called due to Government's `apathetic' stand towards their demands.
