Dalit sarpanch `assaulted'

HYDERABAD: The Local Bodies People's Representatives Sangham has criticised the alleged `assault' and `humiliation' of a Dalit sarpanch of Bethavolu in Warangal district during `Praja Patham' programme. In a statement here on Thursday, B. Chandra Reddy, secretary, while expressing concern over the incident, demanded action against the attackers under the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act. He expressed surprise at officials' attitude in leaving the venue instead of trying to prevent the attack.
