CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has relaxed curbs on operations of a bleaching unit, which established a reverse osmosis plant and achieved zero discharge of untreated effluents into water bodies. The First Bench of Chief Justice A.P. Shah and Justice Chitra Venkataraman has permitted M/s Vivid Textiles Processors (P) Limited of Thirumurugan Poondi at Avinashi to operate throughout the week. The unit is among the first to establish the plant, an evaporator and other machinery to achieve zero discharge. G. Ganesh of Vivid Textiles Processors had moved the court, stating that though his unit had established the plant and demonstrated to the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board officials that no untreated effluent was being released, it was not being allowed to operate seven days a week.
