HYDERABAD: Nearly two months after Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation pulled off a coup in enabling relocation of Maisamma temple on the busy S.P. Road, it has managed to reprise the act. This time, it is on the Balkampet-Fatehnagar road where a similar and smaller place of worship dedicated to local Goddess Pochamma was `shifted' last night in a smooth and swift operation. While the idols were ceremoniously placed in the brand new structure, amidst special pujas, built by the GHMC close to its past location in the early hours of Wednesday itself, the old structure was removed later. The old structure had jutted on to the road after widening work was taken up a year ago. GHMC had succeeded in its task only after months of patient negotiations with the Balkampet Welfare Association while also taking initial local opposition into its stride.
Source of support
Senior Congress leader and local MLA M. Shashidhar Reddy was a big source of support as well as association leaders like Vittal, Dasarath and others, said Additional Commissioner (Planning & Projects) K. Dhananjaya Reddy.
