HYDERABAD: The HUDA Board has approved a proposal to approach the State Government for permission to negotiate land acquisition directly with farmers for some townships under the Joint Development concept.
Meeting held
The HUDA Board, which met here on Thursday, discussed land acquisition for the proposed townships in about eight to 10 villages under the Growth Corridor area involving 2,400 acres under the Joint Development concept. It was originally proposed in 2003 that the HUDA would acquire the above land for development of townships to raise funds for the Outer Ring Road project. But after witnessing resistance and resentment of farmers over conventional method of land acquisition by paying compensation, HUDA came out with a proposal of joint development concept where the farmers would get a share in the developed land based on mutually agreed ratio for the above land, according to HUDA Vice-Chairman Jayesh Ranjan. Farmers of Mankhal, Antaypalli, Anmasguda etc., were in favour of the concept and the ratio of land to be shared would be decided on case to case based on the potential of each township, said ORR Project Director Piyush Kumar.
Joint management
Once the farmers agree for the joint management concept, the State Government would pass the award for land acquisition, it is said. The Board also approved development of two parks in Cantonment area, at Picket and Bolarum by HUDA.
