  • Kasipeta Lingaiah's case to be handled only by city police
  • Bapu Rao remanded to judicial custody for 14 days

HYDERABAD: The passport fraud case registered by the city police against TRS legislator from Boath constituency of Adilabad district, Soyam Bapu Rao, has been transferred on Friday to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for investigation.

However, the fraud case allegedly involving another TRS MLA, Kasipeta Lingaiah, will be handled only by the city police, as a major part of the investigation was already completed, the City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh told The Hindu . Explaining the reason behind the transfer of Rao's case, Mr. Singh said investigation into it was still at the "beginning stage." "Investigators need to move across the districts in Rao's case and hence we thought it a fit case to be dealt by the CID," he said.
