The fiery show

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A scientific experiment in America that created energy has inspired Articulate, a theatre troupe in Bangalore, to stage "Panchavaktram: Shiva - Lord of the Five Elements".

By designing a tabletop-sized nuclear fusion device, American scientists created sonoluminescence - creating nuclear fusion in light using sound waves.

Fusion

This is comparable to Hindu philosophy, which says that Lord Shiva manifested from nothingness into a form and created the five elements whose fusion was possible after he let out sound waves from his "damaru".

Styles

Inspired by the concept and their similarity, Mysore B. Nagaraj has created the show encompassing different dance styles, folk theatre forms, the art of Bahuroopiyas and the Poorvaranga tradition.

Highlight

The highlight of the show will be the depiction of "Pancha Bhootas" - fire, water, earth, air and ether - by five visually challenged dancers.

The show will be presented at the ADA Ranga Mandira in the city on Saturday at 6.30 p.m.
