Singapore evinces interest in State

HYDERABAD: The Government of Singapore has decided to depute a Minister to study the investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and senior Minister Goh Thok Tang said their country was interested in exploring possibilities of investments in construction, port development, industrial parks, biotechnology and municipal waste management and other areas. They asked the State Government to organise a daylong seminar on the opportunities in the State and it was their responsibility to mobilise the industrialists to visit the State.

The two leaders were interacting with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and who arrived in Singapore on Friday. Assuring them that a Minister would be deputed to monitor the investment proposals from Singapore, the Chief Minister said the Government would soon conduct the seminar on showcasing the opportunities in the State.
