High Court notice to Delhi police

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Delhi police on a petition filed by Sahil Zaroo, co-accused in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case, in which he has challenged the trial court's order framing charges against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act.

Justice S. Ravinder Bhat asked the police to file their reply by July 26 on the petition of the co-accused. The petitioner has sought quashing of proceedings against him in the trial court on the plea that he has been falsely implicated in the case.

On January 6, the trial court had framed charges against Sahil Zaroo for illegally buying drugs for Rahul, son of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, from two Nigerians on the night of June 1 last year.

The others against whom charges have been framed are Abdul Lateef and Edbedokun James (both Nigerian nationals), Harish Sharma and Ganesh Sinha.
