HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader Gade Venkat Reddy, who declined the offer of Chairmanship of the Coastal Andhra Development Board, made his views clear to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Digvijay Singh about the recent Cabinet expansion. Talking to reporters here on Friday, Mr. Venkat Reddy, who recently visited New Delhi, said he had questioned Mr. Singh about the criteria adopted for induction into the Cabinet. "We were told seniority, efficiency and experience would matter in selection but leaders like me were asked to head regional development boards," he said.
Keshava Rao faulted
He faulted APCC president K. Keshava Rao for his comment that there were no senior or junior in the Congress and said that a person's tenure as an MLA, MP or Minister besides service to the party should be considered for seniority. "How can seniority of veteran Congress leader G. Venkatswamy be compared with a first time MLA," he asked. Meanwhile, another senior Congress leader and MLC, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy fired a salvo at the APCC chief over cross voting in the Council elections.
