HYDERABAD: The worst phase of power shortage in the State this summer appears to have to come a close. The demand has plummeted and is hovering around 155 million units a day providing some relief to the grid. Taking advantage of the improved situation, the AP Transco has taken one or two thermal stations out of service for annual overhauling. The power demand touched an all-time high of 200 million units as rabi reached its peak by mid-April. "We have no difficulty in meeting the increased domestic/commercial demand as a lot of power is saved following the close of rabi. Transco has stopped purchases from outside," a senior Transco official said.
