Correspondent

Results likely to be announced by June 30

CUTTACK: The much-awaited preliminary examination for Orissa Civil Services 2006 conducted by the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC) went off without any untoward incident in over 150 examination centres across the State on Friday. Nearly 70 percent of 50,000 applicants appeared the examination comprising, official sources said.

Results next month

Sources said that the results of the examination are likely to be published before June 30 as answer scripts would be evaluated in optical mark reader (OMR) system. Names of at least 5000 candidates would be recommended for the main examination that is about 12 times the posts advertised for.

The Government had earlier in March 2006 made a requisition to OPSC for recruitment of at least 400 class II posts, including 100 OAS and an equal number of OFS officers. These vacancies were lying since 2000.
