MTC operated 2,657 services on Friday

CHENNAI : On the occasion of golden jubilee celebrations to mark Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's completion of 50 years as a legislator, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) said it had operated 2,657 services on Friday to cater to the extra rush.

According to a press release, the recent additions to the MTC fleet included blue line, yellow line, white line and orange line buses go up to areas such as Mahabalipuram, Periapalayam, Vallakottai, Tiruporur, Tiruvallur, Sriperumbudur, Sunguvarchathram, Ponneri, Poondi and Maraimalai Nagar. The buses were inducted after MTC received a Rs. 100-crore grant from the State government. MTC's average collection per day has increased to Rs. 126 lakh, touching a peak at Rs. 143 lakh on April 23.
