Chennai proves lucky at national contest

CHENNAI: Chennai proved lucky at Airtel's national festival bumper contest.

R. Sumathy from Royapuram beat 24,999 other Indians to a Ford Fiesta, after answering questions on movies, culture and tradition.

Prizes distributed

At a press conference on Friday, Airtel chief operating officer, mobile services, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Mahesh Thampi, distributed prizes to winners of competitions conducted by the company over the last four months.

At the State level, there were two other competitions held during Pongal and Valentine's Day.

Being a romantic soul does pay off as Arumugam from Tirupur found out, after his numerous dedications to his lady love won him an iPod at an Airtel Valentine's Day contest.

Senguttuvin from Ammayarkuppam and Ravishankar from Kancheepuram won DVD players, while A. Sridhar from Chennai took home a home theatre system.

Contest aim

Mr. Thampi said contests were a way to get customers engaged with the Airtel brand.
