`Government trying to save encroachers'

KOCHI: The Paristhithi Samrakshana Ekopana Samithi has alleged that the Government is trying to save the encroachers and resort mafia in Munnar. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, samithi convener John Peruvanthanam said the encroachments in Munnar were said to spread over 50,000 acres land which would amount to over Rs.5,000 crore at present land rate.

A section of the Government itself was in hand and glove with the encroachers and were trying to save them, said Mr. Peruvanthanam.
