Coimbatore: Forest officials in Kerala have decided to regulate the entry of tourist vehicles into the Parambikulam sanctuary situated close to the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary, Top slip near Pollachi. At present, tourists visiting Parambikulam sanctuary go through Top Slip.
Entry of vehicles
According to Sanjayan Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer and Wildlife Warden of the sanctuary, the authorities have decided to regulate and stagger the entry of vehicles to minimise pressure and to prevent disturbance to the wildlife. From May 17, only 30 vehicles would be allowed to enter during the day till 4 p.m.
Accommodations
Even that would be staggered with only three vehicles per hour. The regulation would not be applicable to the tourists staying in Forest Department accommodations inside the Sanctuary. Tourists coming from long distances, to avoid disappointment, could get slot booked for entering the sanctuary by contacting 04253-245005, he said.
