GULBARGA: For the first time, all sections of society will join hands to celebrate Buddha, Basava and Ambedkar Jayanti in a unique way in Narona village in Aland taluk in Gulbarga district on May 15. State convener of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti D.G. Sagar told presspersons here on Saturday that all these years Buddha, Basava and Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations were organised by the Dalits in their colonies in Narona as was being done in other parts of the district. However, the villagers of Narona breaking this tradition have decided to organise the jayanti of three social reformers in a big way this year. He said that the main function would be held in the main village instead of the Dalit Colony and all sections of society have agreed to participate in the celebrations. Mr. Sagar hails from Narona village and he had taken the initiative to hold discussions with the leaders of all the communities in the village to break the caste barriers to hold the celebrations. Mr. Sagar said apart from the people of Narona, people from neighbouring 15 villages would also participating in the celebrations. A procession would be taken out in the village from the Dalit colony and pass through all the localities before converging on the Hanuman Mandir. The main function would be inaugurated by Mahant Mahaswamigalu of Mahanteshwar Math in Narona.
