Durga Vijay impresses

BANGALORE: Indo-German Club girls and Sri Lankan boys stole the first day's honours in the Boost 12th World Athletics Day meet at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday.

Sports School Chandargi's Durga Vijay ran a splendid 100m hurdles, clinching the gold in an impressive 14.2 seconds to dent the Sri Lankan charge in the section.

The results (winners only): Boys: U-17: 800m: Ifthikar Ahmed 2:04.2s; Long jump: Waachimala Rasindu (SL) 6.12m;100m hurdles: P.K. Ravindu (SL) 15.0s.

U-16: 800m: Nethmal Nelupa (SL) 2:10.5s; Long jump: Suviranilanga (SL) 6.77m; 100m hurdles: A.G. Robbani (SS, Chandargi) 14.7 secs.

U-15: Javelin: K. Ravi Chandra (SC Jayanagar) 26.83m; 100m hurdles: Supun (SL) 14.3s.

U-14: Long jump: Prashant Mudemavr (SS Chandargi) 5.34m; Javelin: Joel Raj (Mohre) 23.26m;100m hurdles: Durga Vijay (SS Chandargi) 14.2s.

Girls: U- 17: 200m: R. Nadeesha Mihirani (SL) 27.5s; 800m: R.M. Nadeesha Mihirani (SL) 2:35.1s; Shot put: Prabodini De Silva (SL) 9.06m; High jump: G.M. Aishwarya (Indo-German) 1.55m; 100m hurdles: M.G. Supunprageethika Senorathna (SL) 18.0s.

U- 16: 800m: S.P. Thilinamadumali (SL) 2:43.5s; 200m: Sangeetha (Rai Club) 26.6s; High jump: Malavika Saranya (Indo-German) 1.46m; Shot put: WMD Anusha Vijamann (SL) 8.83m; 100m hurdles: Anali Wijesinghe (SL) 15.3s.

U-15: Shot put: Sithmi 6.59m; 150m: Nirupama 19.1s; High jump: P.J. Sneha (BSC) 1.38m; 100m hurdles: Barni C. Gowda (Indo-German) 16.5s.
