TIRUPATI: Devotees of Hanuman here on Saturday offered special rituals to him seeking his indulgence in saving the mythological bridge currently under threat of demolition. `Hanumajjayanthi' provided the requisite hype and mood to devotees of Rama.At a special ritual organised here in a local Hunuman temple by the `Rama Sethu Rakshana Samithi', the devotees, mostly women, recited 108 times the `Hanuman Chaleesa' in chorus and offered their obeisance to Hanuman for the cause of the legendary under-water bridge.

A pamphlet distributed by the organisers on the occasion referred to the pictures beamed back to the earth by NASA satellites and blamed the Centre for its move to demolish the under-ocean ancient engineering marvel instead of preserving it as a heritage structure.
