Chopra tied 26th at midway stage

Ponte Vedra: A last-hole double-bogey spoiled his otherwise decent show as Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra returned a one-under 71 to be tied 26th at the midway stage of the Players Championships at TPC Sawgrass here.

Chopra found the water on the last hole to miss out on the opportunity to be among the top 10 but the overall effort was an improvement on his first-round card of two-over 72.

The Swede now has a total of one-over 145.

After nine straight pars on the front nine, Chopra birdied the tenth before adding back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th.

Sitting pretty

He looked set to be placed well for the weekend but then came the errant tee shot which went into the water on the par-four 18th hole.

Chopra took a penalty and then went to the right rough. From there his chip rolled to the other side to seven feet and finally putted out after a three-putt.

Mickelson stays in front

American Phil Mickelson stayed in front after an even par 72 to take his total to five-under 139. He was one ahead of Australian Nathan Green (69), who is four-under 140.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods, who was off the projected cut-line until his last three holes, carded a 73 to be four-over 148 and just about made it to the list of 79 players who will see action over the weekend. The cut came at five-over.
