VIJAYAWADA: City-based Global Tree Education Consultants on Saturday conducted spot admissions for two-year diploma in hotel management (HM) course offered by the Melbourne campus of the Sydney International College (SIC). Srikar Alapati, head of operations of Global Tree, said his organisation was providing a free flight ticket to every student selected for the course. The SIC was offering two diploma courses in hotel management - commercial cooking and patisserie - and those who passed Intermediate and qualified in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) could apply for the course. There was no bar on the age of the applicant. As hotel management was in the list of Australia's MODL (Migrations Occupations in Demand List), those who completed the course could easily get a permanent accommodation in that country, Mr. Sirkar said.
Work permits
Students could work 20 hours a week and 80 hours a month legally, so that they could earn their pocket money. The total tuition fee of $ 21,500 could be paid in four instalments. "Since the classes will only be for four hours a day, it is easy to get a part time job. Moreover, local students' associations will help students coming from abroad to get a placement," he explained. Mr. Srikar said over 60 aspirants from the city attended the daylong admissions and the Global Tree was offering free processing of papers and free coaching for IELTS.
