VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has said that under the second phase of the Indiramma programme some 1.35 lakh representations seeking houses have been received. All eligible persons will be sanctioned houses after scrutiny, he said, adding that 77,855 houses in 336 villages were sanctioned in the first phase. He said the cost per unit was increased from Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 25,000. Addressing a press conference at Collectorate where he distributed assets worth Rs. 26.28 crores to over 20,000 beneficiaries on Saturday, the Minister said that the government fulfilled the promises made Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy during `Praja Prasthanam'.
Ration cards
He said the pension amount was increased from Rs. 75 to Rs. 200 and it was being given regularly to 1.09 lakh people between 1st and 7th of every month. The Minister said that 1,28,993 new ration cards were issued and 2,931 more families sought the same at the recently held Praja Patham programme. The cards would be issued to them shortly, he said. Under the `Pavala vaddi' scheme, he said 21,649 groups were given Rs. 51 crores. The amount was increased to Rs. 195 crores to benefit 8,200 new groups.
