Rajahmundry: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is for creation of smaller states and has extended its support for separate Telangana, is now gearing up to launch separate Andhra movement with `Jai Andhra' as its slogan. Party leaders from Tada (Nellore district) to Itchchapuram (Srikakulam district) will be meeting here on Sunday to finalise the future course of action. According to one of the State general secretaries of the party Somu Veerraju, the party will discuss issues like irrigation, education, medical facilities and infrastructure at the meeting. On the irrigation front, leaders from Andhra region, including K. Haribabu, former Union Minister U.V. Krishnam Raju and others will call for taking up the Polavaram major irrigation project on priority. Vamsadhara phase-II, Janjhavati, Pulichintala, Veligonda and Somasila projects, too, will come up for discussion. The meeting will also call for setting up of an IIT, IIM, rural and agriculture universities in the region. The party will also seek development of Machilipatnam, Kalingapatnam, Bhimunipatnam, Nijampatnam and Vodalarevu near Chirala and costal corridor between Kakinada and Chennai. Night landing facility for flights in Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada and development of Air Strip at Tadepalligudem are other issues to be discussed.
