MP fund allocation for Chair

KANNUR: Defence Minister A.K. Antony has sanctioned Rs. 25 lakh from his MP's Local Area Development Fund for the Swami Ananda Theertha Chair being instituted in Kannur University by the Swami Ananda Theertha birth centenary celebration committee.

In a press release here, committee chairman M.K. Raghavan said the fund was sanctioned on a request by him to Mr. Antony during the Minister's recent visit to Payyannur.

The Chair was being started to promote studies and researches on the influence of the swami.

Future generations should know his influence in the formation of the State's identity, Mr. Raghavan said.
