Bus employees withdraw strike call in Angamaly

KOCHI: The strike planned by the private bus employees in the Angamaly region has been withdrawn following an agreement reached between employees and bus owners in a meeting convened by District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Haneesh. According to the conditions agreed at the meeting, the employees will be entitled to an increase in daily wages to Rs.90 a bus. This agreement will be valid for two years. District Labour Officer M.L. Tony Vincent was present at the meeting. The bus owners were represented by K.A. Makkarkunju, M. B. Satyan, K.V. Kunju, K.C. Victor and P.R. Appu. C.K. Unnikrishnan (CITU), P. J. Joy (former MLA, Angamaly), P. T. Paul (INTUC) and K. Prabhakaran Pillai represented the employees.
