Temples to get funds for performing puja

KARIMNAGAR: The Endowments Department will release Rs. 2,500 every month for 650 temples in the State for the conduct of daily pujas and other rituals in the temples, said Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakara Rao here on Saturday.

Presiding over the Praja Patham concluding function here, the Minister said that he would on the file after occupying his office on Monday. He said that he would release funds to other temples in a phased manner. He said that several temples in the State were not performing regular pujas due to lack of funds.

He also promised self-help group members of taking measures for the construction of Grama Ikya Sangham buildings in each village. He also said that they are taking all measures for the transportation of paddy from the market committees and other procurement centres put by women. Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Jeevan Reddy said that they will strive to make the district a model one in the State. He said that the State Government is taking all measures for completion of SRSP flood flow canal project, Yellampalli projects and transform the district on the irrigation front.

Paddy production

Thanks to the abundant rainfall and assured power supply to farmers, the district has achieved a record paddy production in the State. Mr. Jeevan Reddy said the district recorded a whopping 9 lakh metric tones of paddy during this rabi season. He said that the Government will procure entire crop by providing minimum support price to farmers with the help of SHGs procurement centres in villages.
